Every job-seeker has experience: Why not share yours?
In the meantime here’s word from our latest interviewee, Art…

1. What’s your name?

Art

2. Where do you live?

Essex

3. How long have you been looking for a job?

8 months

4. What’s the story of your job search so far?

Being a specialised trade trying to move into other areas feel blocked by agencies not forwarding my CV to employers. Looking outside Essex agencies have said employers are only looking at locals. Had my first interview with direct to employer application.

5. What has gone well?

Online sites ie totaljobs are invaluable to remind you there are jobs out there.

6. What could have gone better?

Agencies could be more proactive rather than quoting the numbers on their books.

7. What has helped your job search so far? How did it help?

Friends and ex colleauges being positive and finding work themselves.

8. What job search support would you value most?

Being reminded of my knowlegde and value to prospective employers and that employers who don’t see this are probably not worth working for.

9. What experience (or advice) would you like to share with other job seekers?

Stay positive and keep applying, it only takes one to go through in today’s climate.

10. (If you had a magic wand) What would your network of job seekers do for each other?

Word of mouth from successful jobseekers in new employment where further positions are available.
