Because we learn by our mistakes, our mistakes are part of learning. Perhaps the day will come when the accidental source of every lesson learned is recognised, and every mistake is celebrated.
What a wonderful day that would be! Not because we’ll all be celebrating our mistakes together (although a universal D’oh Day would be quite a thing). It would be great because we’d all have our own version of the day when our mistake (our embarrassment, error of judgement, source of shame, accident we hoped we’d never see again) became something new…
An experience we’re grateful for, an error we wouldn’t want to be without, a mistake we want to share instead of hide away. The little thing that ended up teaching us so much.
You can bet your last pink frosted donut today will be a D’oh Day for someone. You can also be just as sure one day you’ll be celebrating too. All thanks to something you learned by mistake.
